Child domain

A child domain for the existing forest was configured on Server2.

  • Root domain: gfnlab.test
  • Child domain: sub.gfnlab.test
  • NetBIOS name: SUB
  • Domain controller: Server2.sub.gfnlab.test
Install-ADDSDomain `
-NewDomainName "sub" `
-ParentDomainName "gfnlab.test" `
-NewDomainNetbiosName "SUB" `
-DomainType ChildDomain `
-InstallDns `
-Credential $Credential `
-SafeModeAdministratorPassword $DSRM `
-Force

The domain and required services were checked after restarting.

Replication and FSMO roles

Replication between DC and Server2 was checked. The summary shows no replication errors for either domain controller.

The Schema Master role was then transferred from DC.gfnlab.test to Server2.sub.gfnlab.test. The Domain Naming Master remains on DC.gfnlab.test.
